All about Myself

 

My name is Gwen Halsted and I have been the owner/operator of the OBASC since 1996. My husband, Ross, and I are fortunate enough to have been for married 37 years now (and still going!). In 1991 my husband and I moved our three small children to Okotoks to live the small town dream. Our children were involved in everything possible, and just like so many other parents, we ran ourselves thin running from one event to the next. Through this hustle and bustle, I cared for and coached many of the children in this community. It was this experience that initially led me to take on the daunting task of running my own child care facility. 

 

I am passionate about child-care and truly love spending time with the children in my care, doing arts and crafts (my specialty!) and fostering caring relationships through our many activities. 

 

The Center is a family owned and operated child care facility. Over the years I have had my mother, brother, children and other family members as paid employees and/or volunteers.  Always ensuring that all of those involved at the Center are government certified and first aid qualified.  It is this family atmosphere that has led to our succes as people-centered business.
